What is Doctor’s Best Glucosamine Sulfate?
Doctor’s Best Glucosamine Sulfate supports joint structure and function and supplies the body with building blocks for cartilage and connective tissues. Doctor’s Best Glucosamine Sulfate contains pure, sodium-free, potassium stabilized glucosamine sulfate as confirmed by HPLC testing. The purified glucosamine sulfate is stabilized with potassium chloride.
How does it work?
Cartilage, a connective tissue, is composed of protein fibers (chiefly collagen) and clusters of complex molecules called “proteoglycans.” A proteoglycan consists of a long protein (polypeptide) with many side polysaccharide chains attached to it. The attached side chains are polysaccharides—chiefly chondroitin sulfate and keratin sulfate. Glucosamine is a key component of keratin sulfate and hyaluronic acid, another glycosaminoglycan found in cartilage and other connective tissues. Galactosamine is a key amino sugar in chondroitin sulfate. Glucosamine sulfate provides sulfur in the form of sulfate, a key component of both chondroitin sulfate and keratin sulfate found in cartilage, bone and the cornea.
